If I ever for any reason forget my password, and I do not have a key-chain, I am absolutely unable to recover my account. Is this correct?
I feel like this is a very, very bad practice even though I understand the reasons behind it.
Second, will there in the future be a one time purchase option for Inkdrop?

Yes.
Because Inkdrop doesn’t have a master key for your data.
Having no master keys would protect your data from leaking if the Inkdrop servers got cracked.
